can't quite figure out what I want my blog to look like... So don't be weirded out if the background keeps changing...

my week...

Nothing really exciting is going on in my life besides work and.... well... more work. I sometimes feel guilty taking up blogger space with my lame excuse for a life. I need to do something exciting with my life and I need ideas... comment please...

I also would love ideas for a halloween costume... comment with ideas for that too...

Okay, now the big news...

This probably isn't news anymore, because most of you read my mom's blog already, but....

I"M GONNA BE AN AUNT!!!!

Shawna and Nicole are going to have a little baby!!! You have no idea how excited I am.

Nicole was the one who told me their news about a month and a half ago. I couldn't make it to our family get together when she told the rest of my family, but the following night was girls night at which she told all our friends. She told me though before the rest of the girl showed up... she gave me a card that said "Crazy Aunt Miranda" on the cover and inside said "I have a baby inside me -Nicole"...I screamed then cried and it was awesome.

Here is the picture of a bunch of aunts way to excited about the new arrival.

sorry...

had a pretty full week this week... if I wasn't at work I was watching Simon and Addy all day Wednesday and Thursday. It was really fun to hang with the kids for a while. We filled our days with disney movies, playing trucks, building forts, playing pretend, walking to the park, and visiting my mom at the church.
Here are some pictures of our fun...

Addy and I at the park

gotta love that face

Visiting my mom at her work... the church office

Simon, Addy, and I play a game called "Snake"... basically Simon acts like a snake and Addy and I act scared when he's around...

this eventually evolved into building a fort for the snake... Simon and Addy filled with stuffed animals, markers and paper, and blankets

truly relaxing with a small bit of accomplishment...

Lovely day today... I am enjoying the view of the clouds rolling in from the south... the sun is peaking out now, which is disappointing, but I didn't expect rain anyway. I'm staying at home today (as I do most saturdays)... but instead of watching a movie (which I normally do) I have been listening to music, reading Jane Austen's Emma, watching the food channel, and sorting through my CDs (my car can't play my iPod, so I need to get a set of CDs in my car to listen to), organizing my movies (by genre), also spent sometime setting up my Facebook account further (that part makes me feel pathetic)... then I started to work through my second bedroom... nothing huge and it is no where near where is will be. Right now it is merely the catch-all of my apartment... I need it to be better.

These are all things I have been needing to do, but haven't and so I decided to do them and get them over-with.

Tonight I am going to that yoga event at my friend's church... I am excited about doing yoga, but don't know how long it goes and how long I'll stay... I guess I'll just play it by ear.
Food network... not good to watch when you are hungry

yoga event

I'm excited to be going to a Yoga event at my friends church... they are opening their church to free yoga and live worship music... pretty cool. I'm just excited to do Yoga. Anyone who wants to come is welcome... it's at Mountain Park Community Church on Pecos Road and 24th st (I believe... that is the address). It's tomorrow night at 6pm.

Lost in Austen

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a young Austen heroine must be in want of a husband...

I picked up the most entertaining book today at Borders... Lost in Austen: Create Your Own Jane Austen Adventure.

The basic premise of the book is you are Lizzy Bennett from Pride and Prejudice and while on the pathway to finding a suitable husband (Mr. Darcy) you have to make decisions that lead you in different directions. I have thus far been accosted by gypsies and also stumbled into Mansfield Park storyline (yeah depending on the decisions you make you can travel into other Austen classics... who knows, maybe I'll end up with Captain Wentworth (Persuasion) instead of Darcy after all). This is so much fun!!!

my nose...

I think it's broken, I am holding an ice pack to it at the moment... or at the very least it's really badly bruised... probably from the allergies I have been having and blowing my nose every 5 minutes. But it hurts.

My favorites...

I am completely in love with Sara Bareilles' new Album "Little Voice"... the two songs I cannot get enough of right now are "Between the Lines" and "One Sweet Love"... just amazing lyrics... her voice is so fun to sing along to and the piano work on "Between the Lines" is just awesome... She is my favorite right now.

I also am in love with this site... a list of 100s of movies out on DVD, and some in theaters still. You can view them (not the best quality, but it saves on rental fees and theater ticket costs). I am currently curled up on my couch watching "Becoming Jane". Gosh I love this movie... also love James McAvoy... aside from playing Tom Lefroy in this flick, he would also be best known to you all as Mr. Tumnus in Chronicals of Narnia. He's also my favorite.

I also discovered Albertson's had Ben & Jerry ice Cream on sale (2 for $5) and so I bought Smores flavor... completely over the moon for this ice cream... chocolate ice cream, toasted marshmallow, graham cracker swirls. My favorite.

Beach memories!!

Perfection

I am now back from my weekend escape to the westcoast with a little bit of a sunburn, a bout of exhaustion and amazing memories of fun adventures!! here are some pictures... more to come from the other two cameras (Laura's and Ashley's)... but this will work for now.

of course... a picture of the CA sign... now entering vacation time

this staircase has been a fixture in southern CA scenery for as long as I can remember... I have no idea why it is there or where those stairs go to.

the sunset on the beach...

our first hostel in downtown san diego... just one block west and you were in Horton Plaza

Day at the beach - magazines, snacks, and the ocean in front of us...

I get freckly when I get sun

henna tattoos... from bottom to top - Ashley, Laura, me

After the day at the beach we played cards at our second hostel (the only one in california that is right on the beach)

We were actually playing a game called "jacks" which is a way of playing MASH with cards (you know MASH, the game where you find your soul mate... I'll take another blog to explain the game if you are all curious enough)... long story short Ashley's soulmate is Michael Cera from Superbad and Arrested Development fame.

the beach bungalow hostel on the beach... the room arrangement was quite interesting... I was in a room with all boys... haha... super interesting... since I went to bed before midnight that meant that no one else was in the room when I fell asleep but when I woke up, filled with young european/australian/and some american male backpackers.

After the long weekend this was me in the car on the way home.

More pictures eventually... as soon as Ashley and Laura email them to me.
